The Wolayita zone youth organisation has celebrated the eve of Gifata holiday brightly on the main streets of Sodo city.
The young generation celebrates Gifata in Wolaita Sodo city with different programs.
The role of the youth in the celebration of the holiday is very important and shown that the current generation should play its role in order to pass the holiday on to the next generation with all its glory.
Youth organisation have invited all youth to participate in the celebration of Gifata holiday that will be celebrated in Wolaita Sodo city this coming Sunday.
Wolayita zone council spokeswoman Mrs. Weynshet Mola stated that the Gifata holiday has been passed down from generation to generation.
The holiday will strengthen the culture of togetherness, caring and helping each other in the society.
Mrs. Weynshet, emphasized that Gifata holiday has nothing to do with religious holidays, but a cultural holiday.
Wolayita zone culture and tourism directorate Mr. Teshome Habte stated that Gifata is a holiday of Wolayita ethnicity.
Mr. Teshome, explained that the holiday is the identity of Wolaita people, also the holiday is end of the old and the beginning of the new year.
The fourth day of the new year in Wolaita /Gaazee Wolillaa/ Gaazee Oruwaa/ is a Wednesday of games and entertainment.
