The Consumers and traders whom we talked to in Addis Ababa markets said that there is no increase in prices on the current price. This could be caused by lack of demand due to the levels of poverty and purchasing power.
Mari Sunday market in Addis Ababa which is known for its width and quality more than usual, it is indicated that it will be buying bulls, cows, sheep, goats, chicken and other items at a reasonable price.
The stakeholders are closely monitoring the market to avoid price increases and to avoid merchants who mix products with fake ones.
Some animal traders and oil traders that we talked to, said that on this year’s holiday there is no price increase on animals and other commodities in Addis Ababa.
The highest price of one ox has been sold to 60 thousand, sheep to 13 thousand, chicken to 800 birr compared to the same period of last year, if not the current price, the traders have stated that there is a stabilisation in terms of supply and price. The monitoring will continue to be strengthened to stabilize the price of products.
