The great Gifata eve running competition that was held in Wolaita Sodo town ended peacefully. The Gifata eve race that was held in Wolayita Sdo with the slogan “For peace and unity” has ended peacefully.
The speaker of the Wolayita zone house of assembly, Mrs. Weynshet Mola Gifata Daha Habtam, who attended the competition and delivered a message said that it is a great holiday that is celebrated equally by everyone.
The honourable Weynshet Bealu said that the run held on the eve of Gifata is part of Gifata. She also mentioned that the holiday is one that is celebrated with love, care and tolerance.
She stated that Gifata is a holiday that expresses togetherness, peace, love and unity, has stated that the holiday will strengthen tolerance and togetherness in the society.
The Wolayita zone culture and tourism directorate Mr. Teshome Habte, stated that one of the main values of Gifata is peace and togetherness.
Mr. Teshome said Gifata is not religious, but Gifata is the change of time for the people of Wolayita.
Thanks to those who contributed to the peaceful completion of the Gifata run. Wolayita zone youth and sport directorate Mr. Tadesse Tekle said that Gifata is our great culture that is celebrated when the fog of winter and darkness is over and light comes out. At last, the runners who won the run, were awarded with cash and certificates.
