The 2nd Ethiopian Projects Athletics Championship, held on April 18, 2016 E.C. in M Hawassa, showcased some outstanding performances by young athletes. In the 1500-meter race for males, it was M, an 18-year-old representing the light Tigray, who emerged as the winner with an impressive time of 3:46.26. Following closely behind was Emmanuel Habtu from Central Ethiopia, securing the second position with a time of 3:48.71. Merra Garedew, representing Oromia, finished third with a time of 3:50.95.

Ethiopian AthleticsIn the women’s under-18 category, Jordan Tsegabu from Tigray displayed her prowess by finishing first in the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:34.71. Bikiltu Negeso from Oromia secured the second position with a time of 4:36.76, closely followed by Amarech Worku, also from Oromia, with a time of 4:40.00.

Moving on to the 1000-meter race, the male under-16 category witnessed some exceptional performances. Abraham Azmeraw from Addis Ababa claimed the top spot with a remarkable time of 2:30.97. Wab Wujira from central Ethiopia secured the second position with a time of 2:31.74, while Bereket Mohammed from Somali finished third with a time of 2:33.13.

The 110 m long race was completed in the following order: The competition included male athletes aged 18 years and above. Gudina from Mesa Diredawa achieved the highest jump of 14.83 metres, followed by Ibsa Hassan from Oromia with 15.66 metres and Anteneh Moges from Diredawa with 15.71 metres.
The long jump competition for male athletes under the age of 16 years old saw Warsemo Abdullahi from Somali achieve the highest jump of 6.13 metres, followed by Jim Garkot from Gambella. 5.92 2nd

In the long jump event for girls under 16, Akune, representing Gambella, achieved a distance of 4.92 meters, securing the top spot.
Second place was achieved by Ojlu Ujlu Gambela with a distance of 4.77 metres, while third place went to Gnriag David Gambella with a distance of 4.64 metres.
In the discus throw event for males under the age of 18, Black Loom Central Ethiopia achieved first place with a distance of 30.86 metres, while Adugna Argo Sidama came second with a distance of 30.36 metres and Mioso Gelgelo Oromia came third with a distance of 29.15 metres.
